Stairs, ramps and level changes

A step is only dangerous when somebody is carrying something and looking at that instead.

Slips, trips and falls 5–10 min per run

The step is fine. The hands are the problem.

People do not fall down stairs they are looking at. They fall down stairs while carrying a box in both arms, holding a phone, or taking the last two steps as one because they have taken them a thousand times.

This is a short training for everyone in a building with more than one level. It covers the small level changes people forget are there: a ramp, a threshold, a single step in a corridor.

What a team does in it

One run, three parts. A team can go back to any of them as often as it needs, and most do.

  1. 1

Go up and down with your hands full

A team takes a familiar staircase carrying something, and finds out what they gave up in order to do it.

  2. 2

    Meet the change you forgot

A single step in a corridor, a ramp in poor light. They see what makes each of them catch people.

  3. 3

Set the rule you will keep

They decide what they will put down and what they will carry, and then take the stairs once more.

What is included

Slips, trips and falls

Stairs, ramps and level changes

5–10 min per run

Included with every module

  • The training itself, repeated as often as you need.
  • Equipment supplied, maintained and replaced.
  • Attendance is recorded and exports into the records you already keep.
  • We run the first sessions with your team, then hand over.

Put it on your shortlist and we go through it together, with nothing to decide yet.

Next to it in the same cluster

Teams that meet this hazard usually meet the others on the same shift. The cluster page Slips, trips and falls holds all of them together.

Take one staircase and use it.

Bring a building your people move through all day. We go through the training against it, end to end.

What happens in the demo

  1. You pick the hazard From your own risk assessment, not from a demo script.
  2. We go through the training Start to finish, the same version your people would get.
  3. We look at your site Who would run it, on which shifts, and what a first group needs.
