Wet and uneven floors

Wet floors get marked. The one that puts somebody down is the one nobody has got to yet.

Slips, trips and falls 10–15 min per run

The dangerous spill is the one still unmarked.

A marked spill is not a hazard, it is a sign. What catches someone is the film of water at a doorway in the rain, the leak under a machine nobody owns, or the step that has worn down a centimetre over ten years.

This one is for anyone crossing a floor that changes with the weather and the shift: kitchens, food production, wash bays, entrances. It is about the ten seconds between finding it and doing something.

What a team does in it

One run, three parts. A team can go back to any of them as often as it needs, and most do.

  1. 1

    Find the floor that changed

A team crosses an area and picks out what is different from yesterday, in the light they actually have.

  2. 2

    Own it for ten seconds

They mark it, clear it or stand on it, instead of walking past it to go and tell somebody.

  3. 3

    Deal with the fall

Somebody goes down anyway. They work through what happens in the first minute afterwards.

What is included

Slips, trips and falls

Wet and uneven floors

10–15 min per run

Included with every module

  • The training itself, repeated as often as you need.
  • Equipment supplied, maintained and replaced.
  • Attendance is recorded and exports into the records you already keep.
  • We run the first sessions with your team, then hand over.

Put it on your shortlist and we go through it together, with nothing to decide yet.

Next to it in the same cluster

Teams that meet this hazard usually meet the others on the same shift. The cluster page Slips, trips and falls holds all of them together.

Take one wet area and cross it.

Bring the part of your assessment that names floors. We pick one area and run the training start to finish.

What happens in the demo

  1. You pick the hazard From your own risk assessment, not from a demo script.
  2. We go through the training Start to finish, the same version your people would get.
  3. We look at your site Who would run it, on which shifts, and what a first group needs.
