Housekeeping and walkways, plant floor

A walkway is clear when it is painted and full by ten in the morning. Nobody decided that.

Slips, trips and falls 5–10 min per run

Nobody puts a pallet in a walkway on purpose.

Every obstruction on a plant floor was put there by somebody in a hurry who meant to move it. By the time it is a hazard it has stood there long enough to look normal, and normal is not something people report.

This is a short training for everyone who walks a production floor. It is about seeing the walkway again after months of walking around what is in it.

What a team does in it

One run, three parts. A team can go back to any of them as often as it needs, and most do.

  1. 1

    Walk it once, properly

A team goes the length of a route and counts what is in the way that they had stopped seeing.

  2. 2

    Move it or say it

For each one they decide whether it takes ten seconds or a conversation, and then do that.

  3. 3

    Come back later

The floor has filled up again. They work on the habit that keeps it from becoming somebody else's job.

What is included

Housekeeping and walkways, plant floor

5–10 min per run

Included with every module

  • The training itself, repeated as often as you need.
  • Equipment supplied, maintained and replaced.
  • Attendance is recorded and exports into the records you already keep.
  • We run the first sessions with your team, then hand over.

Put it on your shortlist and we go through it together, with nothing to decide yet.

Next to it in the same cluster

Teams that meet this hazard usually meet the others on the same shift. The cluster page Slips, trips and falls holds all of them together.

Walk one of your own routes.

Bring a route your people use every day. We go through the training against it, end to end.

What happens in the demo

  1. You pick the hazard From your own risk assessment, not from a demo script.
  2. We go through the training Start to finish, the same version your people would get.
  3. We look at your site Who would run it, on which shifts, and what a first group needs.
