Anchor points and fall arrest, scaffold and edge

Scaffold moves and edges change with every lift. The anchor that was right yesterday may not be there today.

Falls from height 15–25 min per run

Yesterday's anchor point is today's assumption.

A scaffold is rebuilt as the work climbs. Guardrails come off for a delivery and go back on late. The people working from it inherit a structure that has changed since anyone last looked at it, and they usually trust it.

This one is for scaffolders and for anyone working off an open edge that other trades keep changing. It is about noticing what has moved before putting weight on it.

What a team does in it

One run, three parts. A team can go back to any of them as often as it needs, and most do.

  1. 1

    Walk the edge

A team goes along the deck and finds the missing rail, the loose board and the gap a delivery left behind.

  2. 2

    Clip on where it holds

They pick an anchor that carries a fall rather than a person, and say out loud why the obvious one does not.

  3. 3

    Work with the rail off

A section has to open for a lift. The team goes through the ten minutes when that edge is live.

What is included

Anchor points and fall arrest, scaffold and edge

15–25 min per run

Included with every module

  • The training itself, repeated as often as you need.
  • Equipment supplied, maintained and replaced.
  • Attendance is recorded and exports into the records you already keep.
  • We run the first sessions with your team, then hand over.

Put it on your shortlist and we go through it together, with nothing to decide yet.

Next to it in the same cluster

Teams that meet this hazard usually meet the others on the same shift. The cluster page Falls from height holds all of them together.

Run one scaffold edge with your own crew.

Bring the part of your assessment that names scaffold work. We take one edge from it and go through the training end to end.

What happens in the demo

  1. You pick the hazard From your own risk assessment, not from a demo script.
  2. We go through the training Start to finish, the same version your people would get.
  3. We look at your site Who would run it, on which shifts, and what a first group needs.
